Clowns

Cats may unintentionally be funny; but, once they have grown past the kitten stage, they do not appreciate being laughed at. Dogs, on the other hand, seem to enjoy clowning around and laughter - even if it's at their own expense.

Not every dog, mind you, and not all the time. Riley has a sense of humor. She loved to steal Kodi's toys and hide them out of his reach under the bed. She does this mostly when Kodi and I are playing fetch - darting in to grab a toy before he find it. There's a spring to her step as she trots off - no doubt she's laughing at the big oaf who can't find his toy. But, while Riley will laugh with you (as she's doing in the photo of her dressed up for Halloween), to be the object of laughter she isn't sharing mortifies her. A terrier has a sense of dignity.

Kodi? He'll laugh on with you and rush in to find something even goofier to do next.
